| Lots of Good Stuff Coming Soon |
|
|
 |
The next few months are shaping up to
be pretty damn nice with all kinds of good stuff coming out. Plenty of
stuff to tide you all over until Warhammer is finally out. Here's a quick
run down of what is out now and what is coming up.
Tabula Rasa
Sci-fi themed MMORPG from the guy who
made Ultima Online. It looks like a 3rd person type shooter like Gears of
War but it still plays like an MMO. They just stopped offering the last
set of beta keys, so it looks like it's back into closed beta unless you
preorder. Full game is set to be released on October 16th.
Soma Says: The beta is
fun stuff so far, but I can see this getting old fast. Seems way too buggy
to be going live in just a few weeks so you may wanna hold off on a purchase.
It's still a blast and I could see this tying up a few months as something new.
Lack of PvP options really hurt this one in the long term.
Call of Duty 4: Modern
Warfare
Yet another sequel, and
from the videos this
one is smokin' hot. The team who made CoD2 is back again, and after being
console-only on the last installment it's back on the PC. This one hits
November 2nd.
Soma Says: Preordered.
While I was never a huge CoD2 player, I've always played the the single player
and loved it on these games. I'm sure I'll piss around with the MP for a
while on this one too. Really though, this game just looks sweet.
Orange Box: Team Fortress
2
This one kind of snuck up on me, as I
didn't think this was ever gonna be released. Building on the old
Half-Life mod Team Fortress Classic (and the even older quake mode before it),
this is a brand new multi-class fast paced FPS. They're putting it out
with the latest expansion to Half-Life 2, so you get all kinds of other goodies
with the game as well. It's full versions of all the Half-Life stuff so
you don't need to already have any of it. Check out
the videos and the
intros for the characters.
The demo starts on September 17th for preorders through Steam, and the full
version is out October 9th.
Soma Says: Preordered it
through Steam. This is gonna be a huge game, and it's shaping up to be
really competitive. It's not RTCW, but it does have a lot of similarities
and is actually a really good deal with all the other stuff bundled with it.
Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
New Enemy Territory game out from
Spam Splash Damage. FPS goodness set in a futuristic
setting that looks like Battlefield 2142 all over again. Usable vehicles
also like BF2142. The
demo is out
now, and the full game is set to be released on October 2nd.
Soma Says: I really
wanted to love this game, but it plays like BF2142 for retarded people. I
still play Enemy Territory and even RTCW once in a while, but this one doesn't
live up to either of those games. RTCW 2 is under development, and
thankfully Splash Damage doesn't have anything to do with it.

| Saint DAOC Hits 20 Million RPs |
|
|
 |
Not all that long after hitting 10 Million RPS we've doubled that total and we're up to 20 Million on Hib Bors. Not a bad showing for our small but elite crew. I've added a link to the screenshot and maybe once we've gotten bored of playing mids we'll see about hitting 30 Mil :)

Just a quick note, the individual signups for the closed beta of Warhammer Online are now up. There's an individual beta center for North America and for Europe (<3 Zebby). Get signed up ASAP so everyone will have the opportunity to test out this game and make it worthy of being our new main focus.

| Warhammer Guild Beta Signups Posted |
|
|
 |
The guild beta signups for Warhammer Online were posted last week in the latest WAR Newsletter. It's really the first public signups for the game, and of course we've posted our application. If we manage to get in, it'll be beta testing, not just a trial of the game. So be prepared for that. :p
We'll know whether we get in, or if EA-Mythic has made a horrible mistake, within a couple months. Keep your fingers crossed :)

| DAOC is Alive and Kicking! |
|
|
 |
Gonna kinda throw it out there that we have several people running pretty hardcore back in DAOC again. We've had 3 or 4 pretty dedicated members for a long time, but we've gotten several people back lately that haven't played in a year or two. We're running characters on all 3 realms on the Killibury cluster with Hibs on our original Bors home and Palo as well. Albs are on Gawaine and Mids are on Merlin, though with recent changes you can mix all those up if you need to. RvR has been very hectic lately, and even with a small crew or 6 or 7 dedicated RvR players we're continually running the highest weekly RPs out of all the guilds in our alliance and pretty high up there on the server. Triple RP's week last week also gave us several RR dings on lots of characters, and I'll throw out grats posts on those here shortly.
For those interested in coming back or even trying out for the first time for all the FPS only players, just let us know in the forums and we'll point you in the right direction. Here's some updated herald info on the guild as well.
Saint on HibSaint on MidNo dedicated Saint guild for Alb yet, but it'll be coming if we get enough interest in playing there more often. They don't really need the population anyways ;)

| SDOProject.com is developing a Silent Death Online clone |
|
|
 |
I ran across a very cool project not too long ago and wanted to spread the word on it. The people at SDOProject.com are making a clone of the old MMOG Silent Death Online. The original game was developed by Mythic Entertainment, the same ones who made Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online. It's not a MMORPG like those, but was an awesome top-down 2D space shooter game. Graphics weren't amazing, but the gameplay was fast and fun. For more info on the original game check out the wiki or the old promotional video, and then go show some support to the new project.
