Forums down, site remake when I get time for it

Team Saint GeneralSorry about the forums being down, but they'd pretty much been overrun with spammers.  Need to redo the site and simplify things a bit.

Lots of Good Stuff Coming Soon

Team Saint GeneralThe next few months are shaping up to be pretty damn nice with all kinds of good stuff coming out. Plenty of stuff to tide you all over until Warhammer is finally out. Here's a quick run down of what is out now and what is coming up.

Tabula Rasa
Sci-fi themed MMORPG from the guy who made Ultima Online. It looks like a 3rd person type shooter like Gears of War but it still plays like an MMO. They just stopped offering the last set of beta keys, so it looks like it's back into closed beta unless you preorder. Full game is set to be released on October 16th.
Soma Says:
The beta is fun stuff so far, but I can see this getting old fast. Seems way too buggy to be going live in just a few weeks so you may wanna hold off on a purchase. It's still a blast and I could see this tying up a few months as something new. Lack of PvP options really hurt this one in the long term.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
Yet another sequel, and from the videos this one is smokin' hot. The team who made CoD2 is back again, and after being console-only on the last installment it's back on the PC. This one hits November 2nd.
Soma Says:
Preordered. While I was never a huge CoD2 player, I've always played the the single player and loved it on these games. I'm sure I'll piss around with the MP for a while on this one too. Really though, this game just looks sweet.

Orange Box: Team Fortress 2
This one kind of snuck up on me, as I didn't think this was ever gonna be released. Building on the old Half-Life mod Team Fortress Classic (and the even older quake mode before it), this is a brand new multi-class fast paced FPS. They're putting it out with the latest expansion to Half-Life 2, so you get all kinds of other goodies with the game as well. It's full versions of all the Half-Life stuff so you don't need to already have any of it. Check out the videos and the intros for the characters. The demo starts on September 17th for preorders through Steam, and the full version is out October 9th.
Soma Says:
Preordered it through Steam. This is gonna be a huge game, and it's shaping up to be really competitive. It's not RTCW, but it does have a lot of similarities and is actually a really good deal with all the other stuff bundled with it.

Enemy Territory: Quake Wars
New Enemy Territory game out from Spam Splash Damage. FPS goodness set in a futuristic setting that looks like Battlefield 2142 all over again. Usable vehicles also like BF2142. The demo is out now, and the full game is set to be released on October 2nd.
Soma Says:
I really wanted to love this game, but it plays like BF2142 for retarded people. I still play Enemy Territory and even RTCW once in a while, but this one doesn't live up to either of those games. RTCW 2 is under development, and thankfully Splash Damage doesn't have anything to do with it.

old: SDOProject.com is developing a Silent Death Online clone

Team Saint GeneralI ran across a very cool project not too long ago and wanted to spread the word on it. The people at SDOProject.com are making a clone of the old MMOG Silent Death Online. The original game was developed by Mythic Entertainment, the same ones who made Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online. It's not a MMORPG like those, but was an awesome top-down 2D space shooter game. Graphics weren't amazing, but the gameplay was fast and fun. For more info on the original game check out the wiki or the old promotional video, and then go show some support to the new project.

old: 4 Years of Holy Pwnage

Team Saint GeneralSaint was born in early March of 2002, and had its first match on March 14th. It's been a fun 4 years so far, and there's still plenty more to come. Things have been a bit quiet latetly, but there's some things in the works for a real return in the near future. Stay tuned :)

old: News Roundup

Team Saint GeneralThings are a bit quiet here, with everyone enjoying the holidays. We still have a few different bits of news to pass along.

  • Fall3n and Hitek are running a World of Warcraft division that seems to be picking up. I'll get them to give us a forum post with detailed info with server and faction info ASAP.
  • The DaoC squad is more active lately, with lots of new stuff to do and some cool shit coming up in the next patch. Several people have reactivated and are getting back into the swing of things.
  • Soma is putting together a RTCW movie with footage from Saint players from the last 3 years. If you've got some demos you'd like to see represented, let us know in the forums and we'll get them in there.

old: IRC Channel Changes

Team Saint GeneralAfter more than a year of being in #team-saint on Gamesurge, Saint's IRC home has moved back to its original location in #saint. We originally lost the channel when PGPN and Gamesnet merged into Gamesurge, and we were screwed by the fact that the vast majority of Gamesnet channels were the ones moved. Well the previous owners have disappeared, and we've reclaimed what was rightfully ours.

We will continue to idle in the now-chanservless #team-saint for a while, only to point people to the new home in #saint. Visit our IRC channel today on irc.gamesurge.net at #team-saint.

old: Gunz: The Duel

Team Saint General Looking for a fun game to tide you over until the big October releases? Check out the Korean Shooter RPG Gunz: The Duel. The international version has just moved into beta, so it's currently free, and should stay that way for a long time. The game itself is a 3rd person shooter type, with Matrix-style movement. The characters dive and roll, running along the sides of walls, flipping and dashing everywhere. It's really neat how everything is presented. The RPG elements come from you leveling up your characters through deathmatch and other game modes. Allowing you to buy and unlock progressively better weapons and armor. It's hard to fully explain it, but once you get into it then it's a lot of fun. The only bad part is the fact that servers in the beta currently are worldwide, so there's a lot of ping and lag from some players. Servers are setup somewhat like Rakion, and the play is similar. If you want to check it out, goto the main site here. There's also a couple of videos here and here that show an older version of the game. Fun stuff, and it's free so it's a great time killer.

old: Vent Server Status

Team Saint General Untitled I have a bit of information on the status of the Ventrilo servers today. There was a small problem with the server hardware a couple weeks ago, and they're taking that as an opportunity to do some heavy maintenance on that server. Likely, it will be a week or more before they have that server up and running like it was before. There's a bit of another problem though...

old: Ventrilo Servers Down

Team Saint GeneralThe ventrilo servers are temporarily down due to hardware problems. The problem popped up late today, and it will be next Thursday before I’m back in to work on it, so likely it won’t be back up and running until then. More info to come if the situation changes before then.
